My new favorite hobby during all of this has got to be making coffee. I just recently invested in this cold brew coffee maker (not sponsored) to step my latte game up and let me tell you it's working like a charm. Not only is my coffee much richer, smoother, and stronger but I'm also saving money and time by not having to buy a $10 bottle of cold brew from the store every week. Brewing my own cold brew was also the perfect motivator to start coming up with some fun, healthy latte recipes again. The iced caramel macchiato is a favorite sugary coffee drink of mine along with many others, so here's my healthy take on it.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp date syrup (sub: maple syrup)
1 tbsp creamy almond butter (make sure the nut butter you use is very thin and creamy or the sauce will be too thick)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp avocado oil
1 tbsp water
4 oz cold brew (sub: iced coffee, may need more than 4oz for enhanced flavor)
1 cup oat milk (sub: milk of choice)
Recipe:
First things first, make your caramel sauce: In a bowl mix together date syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract, oil, and water until a smooth, even-textured and taste sauce forms. You won't use all of the sauce in one latte, so store it covered in the fridge to use in coffee and on food all week!
In a mason jar or glass drizzle as much of the caramel sauce as you want around the inside edges and bottom. I used roughly 2-3 tbsp here.
Add a small handful of ice cubes to your glass
Add roughly 1/2 cup of milk to the glass, then your coffee, then the rest of the milk.
Stir with a straw or spoon to disperse the caramel and enjoy!
